I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing winter

snow of an Iowa winter.
The end of the quarter/semester is this
month. Report cards and ITBS scores will be sent
home on Jan. 18.
Third graders have been practicing for their

must have returned at least 6 cards this quarter
to participate in the lunch.
We continue to practice the addition,
subtraction, and now multiplication facts. Rocket
Math papers should be coming home every night so
they can be looked over and practiced.
Homework packets are due on Thursday. From
now on they MUST be returned on Thursday. There
will be no grace period.
We will begin to write all of our assignments

December News

Can you believe it is December? Wow, the year is
just flying by. Thanks to all of you that
attended parent-teacher conferences. It was an
informative and enjoyable experience for me. I
hope it was for you too. Thank you for filling
out the survey. One thing I noted was some of you
wanted more activities to do at home with your
child. I will try and have an activity each month
for you to complete with your third grader. The
turkey project in November was super. The turkeys
were very creative. December's activity is a
stocking to decorate. Check your child's backpack
for it on December 3rd. The due date is Dec.
18th. (It is on the calendar.)
Miss Kinzler, the student teacher, is doing a
wonderful job with the class. She has done many
fun and educational activities with the class.
She will be with us until Dec. 14th. We wish her
well in her future teaching career.
The weather has turned cold so be sure your child
is dressed warmly. Don't forget to send boots
when the snow starts to fly.
Please check the calendar for upcoming events and
tests. I have also included the reading story we
are on, vocabulary words, spelling words, due
dates, etc. Sometimes we have to change some
things so please check the calendar a few times
during the month. I will try and get the changes
on there as soon as possible.
If you have any questions please feel free to
contact me here at Hoover. The number is 421-
4408. You can also email me.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and
a restful, fun winter break!

November News

Wow! The first quarter is over and things are
moving along in third grade. I am looking
forward to talking with you at conferences on
Nov. 1 or Nov. 8.
Many things are happening in November.
Conferences and ITBS are just a few of things
going on.
We have a student teacher in our classroom this
quarter. Her name is Miss Whitney Kinzler, and
she goes to college at Luther. It is an exciting
time for all of us. We are all learning together.
A new thing for third graders is the WINGS
program. This is a program designed for 3rd,
4th, and 5th grades. It is to help students
learn about how to prevent bullying and what to
do if it happens to them.
Please check the calendar for upcoming events. I
have tried to include testing dates, social
skills, and other important goings on.

October News

October is a busy month for third graders. When
you look at the calendar you will see we have
spelling, vocabulary, and reading tests every
week. Math tests are also included.
Your child should be bringing their reading book
and vocabulary notebook home every Thursday.
Please listen to them read their story and go
over the vocabulary and definitions with them.
Don't forget to spend 5-10 minutes each night on
Rocket Math. Many students are progressing at an
incredible speed!
Thank you for your support with the homework
packets. They should be coming home on Monday
and they are due on Thursday.
If you have any questions please call or email me.
